States O-W

Ohio

24 credit hours for each two-year reporting period ending on December 31 of (a) 2011 for lawyers whose last names begin with the letters A - L; and (b) 2012 for lawyers whose last names begin with the letters M - Z.  At least 2.5 of the 24 hours of which must be in the area of professional conduct. No more than 6 hours of self-study will be counted against the required 24 hours during the 2-year period.
Reporting Deadline: January 31 following the end of the 2-year reporting period.

Oklahoma

12 hours per calendar year, 1 hour of which must be in the area of professional responsibility or legal ethics or legal malpractice prevention. A maximum of 6 archived online hours are permitted per year.
Reporting Deadline: February 15 - but only if the Oklahoma Bar's records do not show that the required number of hours were taken.  

Oregon

45 hours in each 3-year reporting period ending December 31.  6 of the 45 hours must be related to ethics, and 1 hour of the 6 must be on lawyers' statutory duty to report child abuse. 3 of requisite 45 hours must be in courses pertaining to access to justice.
Reporting Deadline: January 31.

Pennsylvania

12 hours per year, 1 hour of which must be in the area of ethics, professionalism, or substance abuse.  CLE requirements must be completed by April 30 for Compliance Group 1; August 31 for Compliance Group 2; and December 31 for Compliance Group 3.
Reporting Deadline: 30 days after CLE activity (Activity provider's oblgiation to report).

Rhode Island

10 hours per year by June 30, 2 hours of which must be in the area of legal ethics. A maximum of 3 hours may be earned by online, telephonic, video or sound tape presentation per year.
Reporting Deadline: June 30.

South Carolina

14 hours per year, 2 of which must be in the area of legal ethics/professional responsibility.  At least once every three years, each lawyer must complete 1 hour of legal ethics/professional responsibility devoted exclusively to instruction in substance abuse or mental health issues and the legal profession.
Reporting Deadline: March 1.

Tennessee

15 instructional hours per calendar year. Of the 15 hours, 3 must be in the area of ethics and professionalism.
Reporting Deadline: March 1.

Texas

15 hours during each MCLE compliance year. Of the 15 hours, at least 10 hours must be earned in the form of formal courses or seminars. 5 of the 15 hours can be in the form of self-study activities that would include reading legal periodicals, viewing videotapes or listening to audiotapes. At least 3 hours of the 15-hour requirement must be in the area of legal ethics/professional responsibility; 1 of the minimum 3-hour requirements may be completed in the form of self-study credit.
Reporting Deadline: Last day of birth month each year.

Utah

24 hours during each 2 year period, 3 hours of which must be in the area of legal ethics or professional responsibility. 1 of the 3 hours of ethics or professional responsibility shall be in the area of professionalism and civility. No more than 12 hours may be obtained through self-study with audio or video presentations or computer interactive telephonic programs.
Reporting Deadline: July 31 following end of the 2 year reporting period.

 

Vermont

20 hours during each 2 year period, 2 hours of which must be in the area of legal ethics, and 2 hours of which must be in the area of professionalism.
Reporting Deadline: July 1 following end of the 2 year reporting period.

Virginia

12 hours per year by October 31, 2 hours of which must be in the area of ethics/professionalism.  Effective November 1, 2011, 4 of the 12 required hours must be attained through live training courses.
Reporting Deadline: December 15.

Washington

45 hours over 3 years by December 31 of the 3 year reporting period, 6 hours of which must be in the area of ethics. At least 1/2 of the required credits must be earned by attendance at live CLEs, and no more than 1/2 of the credits may be earned by self-study.
Reporting Deadline: February 1.

West Virginia

24 hours by June 30 of each 2 year reporting period, 3 hours of which must be in the area of legal ethics, office management, substance abuse or elimination of bias in the legal profession.
Reporting Deadline: July 31 after the 2 year reporting period.

 

Wisconsin

30 hours by December 31 of each 2 year period, 3 hours of which must be in the area of legal ethics and professional responsibility.
Reporting Deadline: February 1 following the end of the 2 year reporting period.

 

Wyoming

15 hours per year, 1 hour of which must be in the area of legal ethics.  No more than 5 hours of credit of self-study is permitted per reporting period.
Reporting Deadline: January 30.
